SFA Preschool

Our Preschool

St. Francis of Assisi Preschool works to meet the varying needs of children and families in a multi-ethnic community, and to teach God’s message of love for one another! The program attempts to reflect and enhance the cultural richness and language of the children enrolled in the program. We encourage and support the potential of children through an environment that provides optimal social and emotional growth, as well as physical and intellectual skills and development. Feelings of confidence and success are promoted through a wide range of child appropriate activities and opportunities. Each day will include a variety of activities including arts and crafts, music, drama, prayer, and plenty of time for free play. Learning is both formal and informal. Monthly newsletters will be sent home to keep families informed and prepared.

Children are entitled to environments and opportunities that foster emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development and that value inclusively: multiculturalism, interdependence, and dignity. We treat each child as an individual with his or her own needs and capabilities. We provide a safe, caring, and happy environment for the children.

St. Francis of Assisi Preschool teachers are responsible for teaching and guiding young children of ages three to five that are yet to attend kindergarten. Our preschool environment provides the framework and educational background in preparing children for kindergarten.

We integrate lessons from songs, as well as educating the children in child development skills such as social skills, languages and speech development, motor skills, identification of shapes, colors, letters, numbers, and early literacy skills. We enlightened children to enhance their well-being by offering diverse activities and materials that can be utilized in creative play and learning activities.

St. Francis of Assisi Preschool has dedicated teachers to our program and the community. As teachers we feel so blessed to be able to offer a well-rounded preschool program that offers structured teaching time and non-structured teaching time. We believe that opportunity for both learning environments is essential as we all learn in our own unique way. We feel that creating a community ensures everyone’s success by building partnerships with families. Having a safe environment where everyone is acknowledged is a crucial piece to our well-being.

Our preschool teachers are fully licensed, Early Childhood Educators. Together they have over thirty years of experience in working with young children and their families. We take pride in enriching your children’s well-being and nurturing their development.

Program Philosophy

Children are entitled to environments and opportunities that foster emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development and that value inclusively: multiculturalism, interdependence, and dignity. We treat each child as an individual with his or her own needs and capabilities. We provide a safe, caring, and happy environment for the children.

Children are taught through a variety of activities including play, art, songs, stories, field trips, special visitors, and open communication. The focus is on making each day a learning experience for the children. Our daily schedule consists of both structured and non-structured activities with the ultimate goal of being a well-rounded, confident individual who is ready for entry into the elementary school system. We as teachers will seek God’s hand and wisdom in every situation and decision.
