Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me...for the Kingdom of God belongs to them" (Mark 10:13-16). Our Kindergarten classroom is a faith-centered environment which follows Jesus' words to love one another as He loves us.
Kindergarten is a new chapter in children's lives and it is the beginning of many years of learning. This year is so important because it lays the foundation for students in areas of learning such as reading, printing, math and emotionally in sharing, independence, patience, behaviour and confidence.
Every child is welcomed with open arms and we strive to create a classroom environment that is safe, comfortable and happy. Our teacher has a love for learning and that shines forth to the children each day. Each child is respected, cared for and shown love.
St. Francis of Assisi Kindergarten is a full day Kindergarten program which focuses on many areas of curriculum. During the day students engage in academic lessons and activities. They are also guided to show respect, share, be independent and use their manners.
We believe that parents are the most important educators in a child's life. Our teacher loves to work as a team with parents to promote the best education and development of each child. Working together provides the essential bridge a child needs between home and school.
Our many curriculum areas include:
We work on letter recognition, sounds, printing, phonic skills and enjoy reading circles. We read fiction, non-fiction and poems all year.
Students engage in many hands-on activities which help to stimulate brain development and fine motor skills. We focus on numeracy and problem solving.
In the afternoon students love to play at the Centers. We organize centers so that each child can play, interact and use their imagination.
Kindergarten is a fun place to be! Come for a unique experience.
