Altar Servers

Altar Servers<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Our altar servers are so important to our St. Francis community.  The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass.  Servers carry the cross, the processional candle, hold the book for the priest when he is not at the altar, carry incense, present the bread and wine to the priest during the preparation of the gifts, wash the hands of the priest and assist the priest as necessary.  The priest usually requires between three and six altar servers during the Mass.

Altar servers are boys or girls who have been trained by the parish priest, in our case, Father Gino.  Altar servers wear a special alb (robe) to distinguish them from others.  All servers must be Catholic and attend Mass on a regular basis.  If any student, in grade four to seven, is interested in becoming an altar server please let Father Gino know and report to Mrs. Pauletto (grade five teacher) once training is complete.

All altar servers are recognized for their service each year and are highly valued members of our community.
